Invest NI helps Belfast company boost turnover

Belfast company Office Interior Solutions has more than doubled its turnover in the last year with help from Invest Northern Ireland.

Office Interior Solutions provides full design, furnishing and fit-out services for business workspaces of all sizes. Over the last three years the company has invested around £70,000 in marketing activities and strengthening its management team. It is now reaping the benefits, with sales more than doubling to over £3.5 million.

Success achieved in the Republic of Ireland during this growth – accounting for over 25 percent of turnover – has encouraged the company to establish a dedicated business development team focused on identifying high value prospects and managing relationships with premium customers.

Managing Director of Office Interior Solutions Andy McAuley sees the new team as crucial to the company’s future growth: “Having over 20 years’ experience in the furnishing and fitting out of business premises locally, we knew that we were capable of capitalising on the growing need for premium office and work space in the south.

“The difficulty with realising this was making ourselves known to prospective customers. With Invest NI’s support, we ramped up our marketing activity to businesses across the border and recruited a dedicated fit-out manager to enable me to take a more strategic role in the company’s direction.”

Mr McAuley continued: “This has enabled us to more than double the proportion of our sales which are generated externally to over one quarter, and is indicative of the importance of exploiting our export opportunities. The new business development team will focus on generating more leads both in the Republic of Ireland and beyond as we look to sustain our current level of growth.”

Kevin McCann, Invest NI’s Director of Transport, Construction and Tourism, said: “Office Interior Solutions is an excellent example of a local company that has looked to markets outside Northern Ireland to grow its turnover. By recognising the role that marketing can play in increasing profitability, it has established a foothold in the lucrative Republic of Ireland market.

“With its new business development team, the company is now well placed to build on this by cultivating long-term, high value customer relationships whilst enhancing its reputation with potential new clients.”
