Invest Northern Ireland helps open up the doors to success for local firm

KBB Doors Ltd, based in Magherafelt, is planning a significant expansion programme, with support from Invest Northern Ireland, which will potentially create up to 14 new jobs for the company.

Set up in 1995, by joint owners Kieran Shaw and Brian McCloskey, the company manufactures vinyl wrapped doors for the kitchen and bedroom furniture markets.

Currently employing 74 people, KBB Doors Ltd exports approximately 75% of its products to small and medium sized suppliers and retailers across the Republic of Ireland.

The investment programme will enable the company to develop its e-business capability, allowing its customer base to track their orders on-line and access password protected pricing information.

KBB Doors Ltd will also diversify its product offering with the creation of a new ‘curved door’ product, and plans to establish a new design facility to help create other new products with market potential.

Commenting on the company’s expansion plans Kieran Shaw, said:

“This is an exciting time for us as we seek to break into new markets and achieve even higher sales. We recognise that only by concentrating on the research and development of new products, as well as enhancing our existing service offering, will we be able to retain our competitiveness.”

Invest NI has offered the company assistance towards the total project costs of the expansion programme.

Congratulating the company on their development plans Kevin McCann, Director of Transport, Construction and Tourism at Invest NI said:

“KBB Doors Ltd is an excellent example of a local company that recognises the value of innovation to the continued profitable growth of their business.”

“In order for companies to remain competitive they must continuously invest in new product development and differentiation of service offering, both of which KBB are doing with great success.”
