Ion Technologies Wins Major Contract in Canada

Belfast-based Ion technologies has won a £150,000 contract for its internet expertise following a recent Invest Northern Ireland trade mission to the US and Canada.

The company is supplying its ‘Subscribe’ advanced internet marketing toolkit to DMG World Media in Toronto for use by this company in its extensive promotional activities in 36 offices world wide.

The new business was announced by Niall McKeown, managing director of Ion Technologies. Subscribe enables marketeers to capture, target, sign off and send opt-in email campaigns, then to review responses and assess the level of success of an individual campaign.

Ion Technologies was among a group of Northern Ireland companies which took part in the Invest NI trade mission to Chicago and Toronto.

“Winning the DMG business is a particularly important development for us in a market that we’ve been targeting for some time. DMG is one of the world’s leading publishing and event management companies and its decision to purchase Subscribe is a very significant endorsement of our product and technology.

“We’ve already secured a number of major clients including J Walter Thompson in London, Goldman Sachs in New York, in Palo Alto and newspapers such as The Oklahoman in Oklahoma City and the Plain Dealer Ohio’s largest daily publication.

“We used the trade mission to build on contact we had established with DMG and to make a detailed presentation about our software to key buyers.  Missions are an exceptionally cost-effective method of exploring and exploiting business opportunities in markets such as North America,” he added.

Welcoming the success of Ion Technologies in the US, Alan Hingston, Invest NI’s Trade director, said: “This very significant business breakthrough will enable this company to build a strong platform in the world’s biggest and most important marketplace for software products.

“Ion Technologies is among a developing cluster of technology-led companies successfully using our trade missions and other important initiatives, including our technology and development centres in Boston and Denver, to win business in the huge North American marketplace,” he added.
