Leading the Trail to Success with Sean Nugent
On a recent away day to Tyrone and Fermanagh Leslie Morrison, Chief Executive of Invest Northern Ireland visited Sean Nugent Engineering Ltd based in Dungannon. Established in 1984 the company manufactures a wide range of trailers and agricultural machinery.
Recently, with assistance from Invest NI, the business has completed an expansion programme which will include an extension to its existing premises, new product development, an upgraded IT system and an enhanced marketing strategy.
Sean Nugent Engineering Ltd embarked upon the expansion plan in response to increased demand for their existing products and in order to fully capitalise on the market potential of a new product line.
The company has also taken part in a lean manufacturing project which highlighted the need to invest in more effective production processes and techniques.
Commenting on the development Leslie Morrison said:
“These improvements will strengthen both the competitiveness and capability of the company, allowing it to develop its current product range and potentially break into new and lucrative export markets.”
In recent years the company has emerged as a leading manufacturer of cattle handling equipment and has managed to build up a strong client base within the agricultural sector. It is anticipated that the expansion will help strengthen the company’s position and allow for enhanced product diversification.
Speaking on the development programme Shane Nugent, co-owner of Sean Nugent Engineering Ltd with his brother Damien, said:
“This re-investment marks a significant milestone in the development of our company as we attempt to increase both our competitiveness and presence in new and profitable markets.
“By taking part in the lean manufacturing project, with support from Invest NI, we were also able to identify areas were we could streamline our production processes and improve our profit margins,” he continued.
During his away day Leslie Morrison also visited Finlay BME based in Ballygawley, Webtech NI Ltd in Enniskillen, and Ernecraft Ltd and Kettyle Foods both based in Lisnaskea.
