Legal-Island Channels Export Growth

Multi-award winning organisation Legal-Island is celebrating a record trading year thanks to the development of three new digital learning products, developed with assistance from Invest NI.

George McKinney, Invest NI’s Director of Technology and Services, said: “Legal-Island is a niche business in the professional services sector that is keen to grow in export markets.  The company has diversified its offering into e-learning products and an online resource in its employment law hub, to reflect today’s changing customer expectations, and this is beginning to pay off. With its strategic focus and dedicated market development resources in place, Legal-Island is making good progress towards achieving its export sales ambitions."

The company has diversified its products to now include new eLearning products in areas such as the protection of children in schools, and equality and diversity in the workplace. As a result Legal Island has developed partnerships with large umbrella organisations in the Republic of Ireland including the Joint Managerial Body and Education Training Boards.

Speaking about the efforts, Legal Island’s Chairman Barry Philips said: “We wanted to maximise our business performance outside Northern Ireland and diversify our offering in line with technological advancements. Invest NI’s support has enabled us to develop the Employment Law Hub and a CRM system to help manage customer demands more effectively, and produce two critical e-learning modules. We’ve seen the benefits already with a significant uplift in sales to the Republic of Ireland and over 400 new leads generated through the Hub.

“Participating in Invest NI’s leader programme last year was also incredibly valuable experience in improving my strategic outlook on the future growth potential of the business. We will implement extensive marketing plans over the coming months and in the longer term to exploit opportunities to expand the business into Great Britain and mainland Europe.”

Since launching in 2015, the protection of children module has had almost 15,000 users in Ireland. The Northern Ireland module has 4,000 users.

Invest NI has offered Legal Island £57,690 towards its web development and marketing activities and to support the recruitment of a new Business Development Executive.
