Leslie Morrison Officially Opens New Healthy 'Five a Day' Food Company

Leslie Morrison, Chief Executive of Invest Northern Ireland officially opened the new premises of specialist food company 5 Pac Ltd today.

With support from Invest NI the company has set up a base of operations within an area of New Targeted Social Need (NTSN) at Kennedy Way Industrial Estate, West Belfast.

During 2003/04, the amount of Invest NI assistance offered to businesses within NTSN areas was £68m, representing 57% of the total value of offers made in that year, a much higher proportion than the share of population living in these areas.

A subsidiary of well established fruit and vegetable wholesaler North Down (Belfast) Ltd it is anticipated that 5 Pac Ltd will employ approximately 18 staff by March 2007.

Selling pre-packaged ranges of fruit and vegetables 5 Pac Ltd will help its customers meet government guidelines on the five pieces of fruit and vegetables that people should eat each day to stay healthy.

With strong endorsement from the Health Promotion Agency the company is building a well recognised and popular brand within the local market place.

Speaking at the official opening Leslie Morrison said:

“5 Pac Ltd is already making significant in-roads into what is a highly competitive marketplace. I am confident that by concentrating upon continuous brand development and expanding its distribution network this company will continue to grow.”

By entering into strategic alliances with both the John Henderson Group (Hendersons) and J&J Haslett, 5 Pac Ltd intends to increase its presence within convenience stores over the next two to three years and to move into new and even more profitable markets outside Northern Ireland.

Commenting on the opening of their new premises Perry Donaldson, Chairman, North Down Group and Managing Director with 5 Pac Ltd said:
