Limavady Furnishings Company Helped by Invest NI to Grow Export Sales

Limavady based Alison Campbell Soft Furnishings is being assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to grow sales of its roman blinds and bespoke soft furnishings to markets outside Northern Ireland.

The family business is based at the town’s Tradewinds Centre, where it manufactures the roman blinds, made to measure curtains and coordinating accessories.  Invest NI has offered assistance to market its bespoke products through the development of its e-commerce website and a programme of activities. This includes attendance at targeted exhibitions for the home furnishings industry particularly in Great Britain, the Republic of Ireland and other parts of Europe.

Invest NI has offered assistance of £5,000 towards the company’s projected marketing costs of £12,500. Invest NI has also assisted the company with mentoring guidance and advice on its e-commerce technology.

Des Gartland, Manager of Invest NI’s North West Regional Office in Londonderry, announcing marketing support for the small company, said: “This small and innovative company has already developed significant sales outside Northern Ireland as a result of its commitment to e-commerce services. Indeed, it has grown sales to Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland to an impressive 95 per cent of turnover.

“Our assistance is focused on assisting the company to expand its e-commerce services, and also to use targeted trade exhibitions abroad to increase awareness of the quality products that it now offers customers.

“Although a small business that currently employs just four people, Alison Campbell Soft Furnishings is an entrepreneurial company that has demonstrated a real commitment to developing products that meet the specific requirements of individual customers across its wide portfolio of quality products. It meets our commitment to assist the growth of entrepreneurial businesses that add value through innovation and outstanding customer service.”

Alison Campbell, who founded the business in 2006, said: “Our mission is to provide all our customers with competitively priced and high quality soft furnishings, roman blinds, made to measure curtains and cushion covers made from our extensive range of fabrics.

“This approach includes making on-line purchasing extremely straightforward and an enjoyable experience. The success and very positive feedback that we are experiencing through the existing website has encouraged me to invest in a more extensive marketing campaign.

“There is clearly a tremendous demand for the sort of bespoke service and quality products that we are able to design and manufacture for individual customers. Our challenge now is to exploit fully and quickly the professional services that we offer.

“Invest NI’s guidance and assistance has been immensely important. The support is enabling me to move the business forward faster than would have been possible if I had to depend solely on my own resources,” she added.
