Londonderry firm uses innovation as launch pad to success
Learning Pool, the Londonderry based e-learning solutions company, has secured a coveted place in the UK Cabinet Office Innovation Launch Pad initiative which takes place on Tuesday 19 July.
The Innovation Launch Pad aims to make Government contracts more accessible to SME’s across the UK. Learning Pool is one of only nine SME’s from across the UK, and the only one from Northern Ireland, to be selected from over 350 entrants who submitted money saving business proposals.
Learning Pool’s proposal focused on an innovative e-learning training system that has already saved councils and other public sector organisations in the UK more than £30 million over the last three years.
The nine companies will now access mentoring support from some of the UK’s top entrepreneurs, have an opportunity to pitch their money saving business proposals directly to Government decision makers and attend a special reception at 10 Downing Street.
Alastair Hamilton, Chief Executive of Invest Northern Ireland said: “Small firms can find it difficult to access Government contracts so the Innovation Launch Pad is Government’s way of making the procurement system easier to negotiate and ensuring that civil servants seeking suppliers are aware of the innovative range of services and products that SME’s can supply.
“Learning Pool has already secured significant success in the UK public sector market with its e-learning product and Invest NI has worked closely with the company since it was established in 2006 to support its growth and development. Now Learning Pool has a unique and valuable opportunity to bring this product to the attention of key procurement decision makers at the very heart of Government.
“To be one of only nine companies to be given this unique opportunity is a major achievement and demonstrates that local companies which embrace innovation and focus on markets outside Northern Ireland can succeed.”
