New Co.Antrim Fuel Firm Invests Over £140,000 Towards Export Success has invested over £140,000 towards export growth with support from Invest Northern Ireland.

Mallusk based Fuelagents, established earlier this year, is an independent web based commercial fuel oil agency. The company acts as an online broker, providing local businesses with a more transparent method of purchasing fuel products. The products supplied include heating oil, gas oil, diesel and petrol and are primarily aimed at sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, haulage contractors and plant machinery operators.

Invest NI offered over £22,000, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), towards Fuelagents’ growth plans. Targeting UK and Republic of Ireland markets, Fuelagents plans to increase sales levels to £125,000 by 2012. Within the next five years, Fuelagents aims to build on this position by expanding into US markets.

Fuelagents invested in a new website with a secure ecommerce platform, to facilitate customer registration, order processing and the generation of web based quotes for potential customers. In addition, the company enhanced its marketing capabilities, implemented an extensive sales and ICT strategy and recruited an eMarketing manager to drive the business in export markets.

Oonagh Hinds, Invest NI’s Eastern Regional Office Manager, commented: “Fuelagents has developed a unique offering for the UK and RoI fuel market and is progressing well towards building a solid position with customers. This investment highlights Fuelagents’ drive to win new business and will support its long term expansion plans focused on US markets.”

Donall O’Connor, Managing Director of Fuelagents, commented: “With the cost of oil continuously fluctuating, we have created an online marketplace where traders can find and secure the best deal available. Help from Invest NI has enabled us to fully implement our marketing activities and drive the business towards growth. I believe this innovative proposition gives our new company a strong competitive advantage and with enhanced capabilities, we hope to secure new business outside Northern Ireland.”
