New support to boost exports to Central and Eastern Europe

Invest Northern Ireland has appointed an experienced marketing agency in the Czech Republic to assist local companies to win more business in Central and Eastern Europe.

NITC-EasyLink, based in Prague and with offices in Bulgaria, Poland and Romania, will help Northern Ireland companies to pinpoint and to exploit export opportunities in these four key markets of Central and Eastern Europe.

NITC-Easylink is headed by Filip Korinek, a Czech marketing expert who has worked with a broad range of private and public sector organisations including the World Bank and the US Embassy in Prague.

The appointment of NITC-Easylink was announced by Dr Vicky Kell, Invest NI Trade Director, at the start of a trade mission to Poland involving 15 Northern Ireland companies. The mission members will spend this week exploring business opportunities, which NITC-Easylink has helped to pinpoint for them, in Warsaw, Krakow and other business centres in Poland.

Dr Kell said: “The appointment of NITC-Easylink is the latest stage in our formation of a network of experienced marketing professionals to assist companies, both large and small, to harness the business potential of markets in Europe and further afield that are continuing to develop strongly.

“Our extensive research shows significant opportunities for Northern Ireland companies in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland and Romania. While a number of our companies already have business there, we believe that there are excellent opportunities for a great many more firms to grow exports in these developing markets.

“Together the four markets have a total population in excess of 70 million and are committed to developing business with other parts of Europe. All four are also stable markets within the European Union. The Czech Republic and Poland have strong industrial heritages particularly in engineering and are investing in key sectors such as infrastructure and ICT. Bulgaria and Romania are benefiting from extensive EU programmes.

“The appointment of the new trade advisory service follows a series of trade missions to these markets which indicated high levels of interest in the type of quality products and services that Northern Ireland companies are able to offer. NITC-Easylink will play a key role in assisting our companies to increase awareness of their products and services in these markets and promote good business contacts.”

The mission to Poland includes several companies with business in this market as well as in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Romania.
