Newry showjump manufacturer leaps to success in the Republic of Ireland
Newry-based Ashtree Showjumps has secured over £30,000 of new business in the Republic of Ireland over the past six months with support from Invest Northern Ireland.
Ashtree Showjumps manufactures and supplies mobile equestrian jumps and cross country fences to riding clubs, hunt clubs and trade outlets throughout the UK and Ireland. The business was recently established by Seamus Taggart, an experienced joiner and equine enthusiast who recognised a niche in the equestrian market for his portable wooden products.
The export success follows a £36,000 investment by the company aimed at growing sales in the Republic of Ireland, a key target market. Invest NI offered Ashtree Showjumps £14,000 to help the company design and implement an extensive export sales and marketing strategy.
Ashtree Showjumps is developing new promotional materials, exhibiting at trade shows and undertaking market development visits as part of the overall investment. As a result of these activities, the company has received a positive response from customers and secured a number of sales while exhibiting at the RDS Dublin Horse Show in August 2011.
Over the next three years, Ashtree Showjumps plans to appoint two additional full time production staff to help meet the anticipated increase in business.
