£315,000 growth plans for flood risk management company
Mallusk-based company, McCloy Consulting, is investing £315,000 in a project to increase its sales in the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain, with support from Invest Northern Ireland.
McCloy Consulting specialises in carrying out flood risk assessments. The company also designs sustainable drainage systems, which use natural methods to manage runoff from development sites, both during and after construction. McCloy Consulting also helps prevent flooding of buildings and protects rivers from pollution.
One of the company’s core business activities to-date has included work at wind farm development sites.
Commenting on the firm’s growth plans, Oonagh Hinds, Invest NI’s Eastern Regional Office Manager, said: “McCloy Consulting is an innovative environmental service provider and its main clients are in niche markets which are growing. The company’s management has recognised a gap in the market for its services and is exploiting high-value openings through this project.
“Businesses such as McCloy Consulting which have the capability to offer a specialist product or service can make a significant contribution to the local economy by identifying and satisfying solid demand in sizeable external markets. This project aims to ensure that the vast majority of the firm’s business is generated outside Northern Ireland.”
Anthony McCloy, Managing Director of McCloy Consulting, said: “The marketing activities undertaken as part of the project, supported by Invest NI, comprise search engine optimisation to increase traffic on our website, and an extensive PR campaign. Invest NI is also helping us to add five new highly skilled employees to our team, including a technician and engineers.
“There is considerable demand for our services for a number of reasons. The wind energy market is expanding as governments and local councils in our target markets seek to achieve climate change objectives by ensuring the production of more wind-generated electricity. The increased environmental sensitivity around these developments has boosted demand for our services”
“Furthermore, flooding is a major concern for an increasing number of councils and public sector agencies in the UK and Republic of Ireland. They are demanding a higher standard of sustainable flood management for proposed development sites, and this represents further business opportunities for us,” added Mr McCloy.
McCloy Consulting’s existing customer base includes several well-known companies such as UK-based Renewable Energy Systems and Airtricity in the Republic of Ireland.
