£8million Skills Investment Announced by Moy Park
Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell today announced Moy Park’s £8million investment to implement a skills and development programme across the group over the next four years.
Invest Northern Ireland has offered Moy Park £1.4million towards its skills programme, which is designed to support the continued growth of this leading European food business.
Moy Park is the second largest player in the UK poultry sector and employs 6,300 across its Northern Ireland based processing facilities in Craigavon, Dungannon and Ballymena.
Jonathan Bell said: “Moy Park is Northern Ireland’s largest employer and this £8million investment in skills development reinforces the company’s commitment to continuous improvement as a means to remaining competitive in its target markets.
“Invest Northern Ireland has been working closely in recent years to help the manufacturer introduce lean techniques and supply chain management measures. This latest investment has enabled Moy Park to implement a comprehensive suite of training and learning initiatives across the entire company workforce, looking at leadership and management development, technical competences and functional skills.”
Moy Park’s HR Director Europe, Mike Mullan commented: “As one of Europe’s leading food companies, we are committed to supporting our team members with outstanding training and development opportunities. This significant investment in skills and training, supported by Invest Northern Ireland, will be instrumental in sustaining our continual transformation, growth and improvement.
“People are at the heart of Moy Park. As a values-led company we continue to make major investments in our industry leading agriculture and processing facilities and it is essential that we champion and develop the capabilities of our people to take the business forward.”
Moy Park employs around 12,000 people across 14 processing facilities in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, England, France and The Netherlands. The company was recently awarded the IGD John Sainsbury Learning and Development Award in recognition of its best in class approach to people development.
