Steam and Generation Services Invests £290,000 and Creates 10 New Jobs
Steam and Generation Services (NI) (SGS) in Londonderry has been assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to invest £292,000 and provide 10 new jobs to expand business in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.
Based at Campsie, SGS specialises in expert engineering services for power stations in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and Great Britain.
The company currently employs 17 people at Campsie and is part of the Precision Group. Invest NI has offered SGS £49,000 of support towards this export-led expansion.
Announcing assistance for the investment, Des Gartland, Invest NI’s North West Office Manager, said: “SGS has established solid bases in its key markets and now sees considerable scope to grow business in both.
“Our assistance will help this progressive company as it seeks to exploit new business opportunities it has identified in the power generation sectors in Britain and the Republic.
“The expansion will also offer good quality employment for experienced and skilled people at an average salary of £28,000. Overall, the expansion will add an additional £290,000 a year to the local economy in salaries and wages,” he added.
Kevin Williams, Managing Director, said: “This investment is being made to enable us to build on existing business particularly in the Republic of Ireland with the Electricity Supply Board (ESB). We have identified other substantial opportunities for our expertise and skills with ESB in the Republic and also with power stations in the Republic.
“It will also enable us to strengthen our skills base at Campsie and focus additional resources on our sales and marketing activities in both markets.
“Invest NI’s continued support is enabling us to bring this growth strategy forward and implement the actions required to accelerate the development of the business outside Northern Ireland,” he added.
Established in 2010, SGS has achieved key industry accreditations – ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems); ISO 9001 (Quality Management); and ISO 18001 (Health and Safety).
