Technology must be embraced to achieve the highest standards within our Health Service – Poots & Foster
Technology must play a central role in future healthcare delivery in order to contain costs, improve access and enhance the quality of patient care.
That was the message from the Health Minister Edwin Poots during a visit to Consillium Technologies with Enterprise Minister, Arlene Foster today
Edwin Poots said: “Significant challenges are facing our health and social care system in the 21st century; it needs to be responsive and progressive in order to meet them. Innovative ways of working facilitated by new technologies can bring benefits in terms of streamlining workflow, improving efficiency and enabling healthcare professionals to spend more time with patients by giving them the necessary communications support. By tapping into new opportunities like these we can also stimulate economic growth.
“This is a growth industry and I welcome the opportunity to learn more about the work being undertaken in this area by Consilium.”
Consilium launched into the healthcare market in 2012 with their TotalMobile workflow management system. This health care solution aims to improve efficiency, patient safety and care quality and the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust is currently engaged in a pilot scheme.
Enterprise Minister, Arlene Foster said: “We have a unique opportunity within this sector to deliver economic benefits as well as deliver better, more efficient patient care. Companies like Consilium are helping to drive the connected health agenda forward and ensure that the local sector continues to secure global recognition.
“Invest Northern Ireland is working closely with industry in order to develop the sector, secure investment and ensure that local companies like Consilium are supported in international markets.”
