TES (NI) in Cookstown Wins £1m Contract in St Helena

TES (NI), the Cookstown-based specialist in water and wastewater treatment solutions, has won business worth £1 million on the island of St Helena with assistance from Invest Northern Ireland.

The company will work on the upgrading of St Helena’s existing four water treatment plants to raise drinking water quality levels for 4,000 residents on the remote volcanic island located in the South Atlantic.

TES has received a wide range of Invest NI financial assistance and practical trade focused support to help expand sales outside Northern Ireland. This has enabled the company to develop significant business in Great Britain, the Republic of Ireland, other parts of Europe, North Africa, including Libya, and the Middle East, as well as St Helena.

Dr Vicky Kell, Invest NI Trade Director, congratulating the company, said: “Invest NI support has enabled this ambitious company to position it for faster export growth. We’ve worked closely with TES in a number of markets, including the Middle East, North Africa and Europe, where it has also secured significant business.

“This impressive achievement in St Helena demonstrates the company’s ability to competitively bid for business in even the most remote locations.”

James McCusker, TES (NI) Sales Director commenting on the company’s latest export contract, said: “We secured this important and logistically challenging contract from the St Helena Government in a very competitive tender process. What helped us to secure the business is our expertise and experience in providing a total turnkey solution to the customer’s specific requirements that covers design, manufacture, assembly, installation and technical training support.

“While we have extensive experience in markets outside Northern Ireland, St Helena is certainly our most challenging assignment because of the location of the island which can only be accessed by boat from either Cape Town in South Africa or Ascension Island, the nearest airport.

“Our ability to identify such export opportunities and to respond quickly and effectively has been assisted by the support from Invest NI, particularly in areas such as international marketing,” added Mr McCusker.
