Yell's New £8.5M Telesales Centre in Belfast Officially Launched
Yell’s new £8.5 million Belfast telesales centre, which represents significant expansion in Northern Ireland for the international directories business, was officially launched today by Professor Fabian Monds, chairman of Invest Northern Ireland.
Prof Monds was welcomed to the new centre, located in the Metro Building at Donegall Square South, by Steve Chambers, Yell’s UK chief commercial officer. Yell currently employs 40 telesales consultants at the centre, selling classified advertising to new customers throughout the UK across its products and services including Yellow Pages and Business Pages directories, Yell.com and Yellow Pages 118 24 7.
Supported by financial assistance from Invest NI, Yell plans to expand the telesales operation in the next three years with capacity for accommodating around 140. The centre is expected to become a key part of Yell’s UK telesales network, which currently employs more than 700.
During his visit Prof Monds met other Yell senior management and telesales consultants and saw the centre in operation.
Said Prof Monds: “Securing this investment by Yell, a world-class directory business is a tremendous boost for our drive to encourage more international companies to set up in Northern Ireland.
“The investment is a very significant endorsement of Northern Ireland as a base for companies working in telephone sales and marketing. This is a growth industry worldwide and is already providing well-paid jobs for people from all parts of the city and further afield. We look forward to continuing to work in partnership with Yell in the further development of this new centre,” he added.
Mr Chambers said: “We are very impressed by the skills and enthusiasm of the people that we’ve recruited since setting up the centre in Belfast in November. The current telesales team here is already helping us to achieve one of our key business goals of winning new advertisers across Yell.
“Finding a supply of well-educated and motivated people was a priority for the company. We looked at a number of potential UK locations and chose Belfast because the city offered a pool of well-educated, motivated and reliable people, as well as excellent accommodation. We have had a presence in Belfast for many years with our field sales team and look forward to significant development of our links with the city.”
