Invest Northern Ireland’s Chief Executive, Leslie Morrison, today officially opened AXA Insurance’s customer contact centre in Londonderry.
The centre is the result of a £15 million investment by AXA Insurance which was announced earlier this year. The investment will create 150 jobs generating £2.4 million per annum in salaries for the area. Invest NI has offered almost £1.8m of support toward the project.
The AXA Group is one of the world’s leading insurers and financial services providers and AXA Insurance is currently the second largest motor insurer on the island of Ireland.
The new contact centre has been set up to service AXA’s business across the island of Ireland. AXA currently employs 108 people between its Northern Ireland Head Office in Belfast and Northern Ireland branch network.
Announcing the investment Leslie Morrison said: “AXA's decision to invest in a second major centre in Northern Ireland reflects the confidence that world class companies have in the skills and business environment that they find here.
“The investment brings benefits not only to the North-West but to the Northern Ireland economy as a whole. Our financial services and contact centre sectors have grown rapidly in recent years as international companies increasingly recognise that Northern Ireland is a cost competitive location that can add value to their operations.”
