Ballymena based MET Healthcare Ltd (MET) has secured a £900,000 contract in the Republic of Ireland with support from Invest Northern Ireland.
Established in 2010, MET specialises in the build and fit out of medical facilities including critical care units and operating theatres. The company also supplies clean air systems for use during surgical procedures and offers a 24 hour aftercare service. MET’s services are targeted at health trusts and hospitals in both the public and private sectors across the UK and RoI.
Following an investment of £230,000 towards export development, MET secured the £900,000 contract with John Sisk & Son in Limerick. The project will see the construction of a new critical care facility which is set to be the largest of its kind in Ireland.
Invest NI offered MET £24,000 of support towards the project. The company has also benefited from a range of Invest NI support including assistance with its integrated management system and export development strategy. Five new jobs will be created as part of the investment including a design engineer position.
Gren Armstrong, Manager of Invest NI’s North Eastern Regional Office, said: “Winning this valuable contract in the Republic of Ireland is a significant result for MET and will support the company’s growth in a key export market. The medical facilities sector is a high value, but competitive market so implementing a comprehensive export marketing plan will give MET a competitive edge as it seeks additional export contracts.”
Graham Martin, Sales & Commercial Director of MET Healthcare Ltd, said: “Our ambition is to cement our position as one of the key players in the specialist medical facilities sector and securing this new contract in Limerick will help us to achieve our goal. Invest NI’s support enabled us to accelerate our export development plans and we aim to fully utilise our enhanced capabilities to grow the business in both existing and new markets.”
