Co. Antrim Based WH Scott Lifts its Profile in Export Markets

Jun 24, 2013

WH Scott has secured a valuable contract with Irish Rail as a result of market development activities supported by Invest Northern Ireland.

The Co. Antrim company, which supplies and services lifting equipment and cranes, has recently recruited two Sales Engineers as part of a strategy to grow the business by expanding into new sectors and geographic markets.

Nigel Holmes, General Manager of WH Scott said: “Since identifying potential new business in areas such as off shore energy, sea freight, industrial fishing and utilities, we have concentrated on improving our ability to compete for such opportunities. Invest NI’s support has given us the confidence and resources to expand our services into new markets and this success with Irish Rail will provide a solid platform to build our profile across Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.”

Gren Armstrong, Invest NI’s North Eastern Regional Manager, said: “WH Scott is an established local firm with a clear drive to seek out new customers beyond Northern Ireland.

“This specialist business has utilised Invest NI support to establish a dedicated sales team to undertake market development activities. Securing this contract with Irish Rail is evidence that the company’s investment is now paying off. I urge more local businesses like WH Scott to take advantage of the range of support Invest NI has on offer to help them pursue their growth plans.”
