Invest Northern Ireland has helped BA Components to save over £360,000 through a programme of efficiency measures.
BA Components, based in Cookstown, manufactures a range of kitchen and bedroom furniture and accessories from a state of the art production facility for the UK and ROI furniture components industry.
Assistance from Invest NI helped BA Components to evaluate key processes and implement important operational changes. The majority of savings to date have been achieved through improving plant layout along with manufacturing, delivery and stock control systems which have reduced costs and increased profitability.
In addition, as part of measures focused on continuous improvement, BA Components has introduced a satisfaction survey into its sales process, which analyses customer expectations on products and service against how the business actually performs.
Niall Casey, Invest NI’s Director of Business Improvement Services, commented: “The changes carried out to date have been highly successful in helping BA Components to reduce unnecessary costs and improve customer service. By continuing to refine its processes, this company can strengthen all areas of the business and focus on gaining new business in export markets.”
Anne McLaughlin, Business Improvement Manager of BA Components commented: “With Invest NI support our company has made significant advances towards a more profitable business. The support towards efficiencies has also allowed us to put greater focus on new product development which will further underpin our export growth plans.
“We are delighted with the savings made to date and will continue to focus our efforts towards achieving and sustaining leaner manufacturing operations. By managing changes in working practices and operating with the most appropriate world class technologies, we can ensure the continued the competitiveness of our plant.”
