Economy Minister, Nigel Dodds today showcased a locally developed Titanic website at Union Station in Washington DC.
The site, www.titanicinbelfast.com, which forms part of the Titanic Exhibition, at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, was created by EG Information Consulting Ltd, one of the Belfast companies travelling with Minister Dodds on the Invest NI trade mission to America.
Commenting on the website Minister Dodds said: “www.titanicinbelfast.com offers an extensive archive of information about the Titanic and the growing and thriving Belfast of the early 1900s. Audiences can study blueprints of the ship’s construction, view newsreel footage from 1912 and its fateful journey from Southampton to New York.
“The website is an ambassador for the Belfast of today and yesteryear. With a daily footfall of around 80,000 people at the Titanic Exhibition, I am sure it will be a great attraction and source of information for many potential visitors to Northern Ireland.”
Peter Shields, Managing Director, EG Information Consulting Ltd believes that showcasing the website at the Titanic Exhibition, can help kickstart his company’s trade mission in the US.
Mr Shields said: “We created the website on behalf of the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum and the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. This is a great opportunity to showcase our talent and abilities to a captive US audience, as they tour the Titanic Exhibition. I hope it is just the start of things to come in this market- this trade mission is vital in helping us along this road.”
