Sperrin Metals, a metal storage manufacturer has secured two new prestigious contracts in Dublin worth £150,000 following support from Invest Northern Ireland.

The contracts will see the firm supply and install 800 high quality aluminium lockers in the new Aviva Stadium at Lansdowne Road and also in Dublin Airport’s rejuvenated second terminal.

Sperrin Metals specialises in the manufacture and distribution of storage products such as lockers, shelving, racking and mezzanine flooring. It has a wide range of customers including schools, government departments and multinational companies throughout Europe.

The recent success follows on from the company’s extensive growth plans which, assisted by Invest NI, saw the business expand into UK markets and purchase the established locker manufacturer Helmsman.

This development enhanced Sperrin Metals market position in the UK storage equipment market, and facilitated the implementation of new capabilities and production methods into the firm.

By developing and refining an innovative product portfolio, Sperrin is now also manufacturing bespoke premium products for both its new and established customer base.

Commenting on the news, John Hood, Invest NI’s Acting Director of Engineering and Business Services, said: “This is a significant deal for Sperrin Metals and signals the success of the company’s growth plans including the Helmsman acquisition. With continued emphasis on improvement and training, Sperrin Metals can build on their market position and secure further business outside Northern Ireland.”

Peter Gormley from Sperrin Metals commented: “The consultative and financial support we received from Invest NI has helped us to develop and increase our market presence and export marketing capabilities. The locker contracts secured at Aviva and Dublin Airport are a great achievement for the company as it implements its strategic plan of developing new customers and business opportunities across Europe and the world.

“The development of the locker business is only part of our overall plan which includes the production of a live storage product, along with Samco Europe Limited, in partnership with an international company, which is being distributed across the globe.”
