Dungannon-based Taxi and Bus Conversions is targeting £2 million worth of new business in Great Britain over the next two years with support from Invest Northern Ireland.
Taxi and Bus Conversions specialises in the adaption of wheelchair accessible vehicles, including taxis and minibuses to service the mobility market. The company works with a range of vehicle manufacturing companies and also sells its adapted vehicles to customers across Ireland.
Invest NI offered Taxi and Bus Conversions £15,000 towards a £140,000 investment by the company to help the business expand into GB and strengthen its partnership with Motability and Volkswagen. The firm appointed a GB based sales manager to drive awareness of the company outside Northern Ireland, undertake promotional activities and secure new sales.
As a result of its overall investment, Taxi and Bus Conversions has secured an agreement with a number of GB-based Volkswagen van centres to sell its Fully European Type Approved wheelchair accessible Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Life into the UK market.
Mary Gormley, Manager of Invest NI’s Western Regional Office, said: “Taxi and Bus Conversions’ proactive approach to market development has enabled the company to secure its exclusive arrangement with a number of Volkswagen dealers.
“With a strengthened management team and competitive marketing strategy, Taxi and Bus Conversions can effectively target new markets outside Northern Ireland and realise its full growth potential.”
David Donnell of Taxi and Bus Conversions, said: “This is an important project for Taxi and Bus Conversions as we focus on building our business relationships outside Northern Ireland. Invest NI support has enabled us to accelerate our growth strategy and boost our competitiveness. Looking ahead, we aim to further expand our range of converted vehicles into the UK market.”
