Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster today briefed 14 leading companies in New York about inward investment opportunities in Northern Ireland.

Arlene Foster, Declan Kelly the US Economic Envoy to Northern Ireland and Alastair Hamilton, Chief Executive of Invest Northern Ireland, met with companies from a wide range of sectors including Financial Services, Information & Communications Technology, Connected Health, and Life Sciences, including several from the Fortune 500.

The meetings today marked the culmination of a three day visit by the Enterprise Minister to New York and Boston, with a focus on strengthening economic ties between the United States and Northern Ireland.

Arlene Foster said: "The main objective of this visit is to help attract investment and develop new business partnerships between the US and Northern Ireland. Today's meetings are important because they are targeting quality companies in the sectors which are a specific fit with Invest Northern Ireland's strategic investment model."

During the event, senior business leaders received detailed presentations from the Enterprise Minister, Envoy Kelly and Invest NI. The Minister continued: "This delegation has provided an opportunity to highlight the opportunities and advantages for companies doing business in Northern Ireland. I am encouraged by the consistent engagement of the participating companies and look forward to having further conversations with them in the future."

The Minister's visit has been organised in partnership with the US Working Group, which was set up by Declan Kelly when he was appointed to the position of Economic Envoy, the Northern Ireland Administration, and Invest NI.

The Minister concluded: "The US has played an important role in Northern Ireland's growth and development, bringing significant change to trade and investment opportunities here. I look forward to working with Declan Kelly and the Working Group as we seek to build on the ties that are already established and look to the future."
