Extension of Appointment of Chairman and Members of the NI-CO Board

Invest Northern Ireland's Chief Executive, Alastair Hamilton has announced the short-term extension of the appointment of the Chairman and two members of the Board of Northern Ireland Co-operation Overseas (NI-CO).

Mr Peter Fitzsimmons will serve as Chairman of the Board for one further year from 1 April 2013 whilst the Board Members Mr Adrian Houston and Mr Sean Mahon have had their existing terms extended by six months until 30 September 2013.

Announcing the extensions, Alastair Hamilton said: “The extension of these appointments will provide NI-CO with important business continuity as it seeks to relocate to new premises and begin to implement its 2013 – 2016 corporate strategy.”

“Peter, Adrian and Sean's experience on the NI-CO board will be of great value to NI-CO as it faces significant change and continues to deliver projects and win new business across its key markets."

The extensions have been made within the spirit of the Code of Practice of the Commissioner for Public Appointments, Northern Ireland.

In order to ensure the company is fully prepared for a smooth succession of Board Members and Chairperson, advertisements for these posts will be placed in the press in the coming weeks, with a view to making new appointments to the Board with effect from 1st October 2013.
