Bangor-based fashion house Pia Rossini has been assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to increase sales worldwide by embracing the latest e-commerce technology.

Pia Rossini, which employs 19 people now generates around 90 per cent of its sales from large department stores, prestigious buying groups and thousands of independent stores and boutiques outside Northern Ireland throughout Europe, the US and other International markets.

Invest NI provided advice and practical support to the company to enable it to maximise business from its network of agents, including the development of a new web-based swift order form application that is allowing the company to carry out a series of sales operations faster than ever before.

Mark Read, Pia Rossini’s Systems and Operations Manager, said the new management information system developed by the company has increased its overall competitiveness in the international marketplace.

“Technology is a key element in our strategy to expand sales beyond our established markets of Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland. Despite the current recession we are still growing. Our focus on export markets is now producing real benefits in terms of a sharp increase in orders.

“Our new system processes orders faster, enables us to check stock levels more easily, review previous and outstanding orders, receive copies of orders either inputted by ourselves or by customers and draw down reports from the website on orders, customers and products. This real-time information is working to everyone’s advantage.”

Olive Hill, Invest NI’s Director of Innovation and Technology Solutions, said: “The support we provided to Pia Rossini is an excellent example of how we can assist smaller companies in particular to harness the latest technology for greater export success.

“E-business technology enables companies in all sectors and of virtually every size to embrace opportunities faster to grow sales outside Northern Ireland.

“Pia Rossini’s success, especially in global markets, shows that the smart use of ICT can deliver real business benefits. Invest NI’s team of ICT experts offers impartial advice and guidance on a very broad range of ICT and e-business areas. We also help in areas such as software installation and training.”

Established in 1999, Pia Rossini designs and distributes a range of co-ordinated ladies fashion accessories. Everything is designed in-house, and Pia Rossini now works with some of the most modern, ethical and efficient factories in the Far East and Europe, delivering quality products at competitive prices.
