Over 50 businessmen and women learnt how to increase their profit margins at a recent export networking event, at the Canal Court Hotel, Newry.
Keynote speaker Feargal McCormack from FPM Accountants LLP, based in Newry, gave an informative presentation called ‘Profit Improvement Strategies’ to the attendees.
Organised by Invest Northern Ireland’s southern office the Export Networking Club is a twice-yearly event that gives business professionals the opportunity to share their experiences, network and learn about creative new business solutions.
Facilitating informal networking between local exporters, along with more formal presentations from expert speakers on a wide-range of issues, the event continues to attract high attendance figures.
The previous seminar, held in March, included a presentation from Nicola Bury from Haybury Marketing on ‘Marketing on a shoestring’ alongside a short talk from Eddie O’Gorman, from BBC Radio Ulster, on the ‘do’s and don’ts’ of public relations.
Commenting on the success of the event, Mark Bleakney, Manager of Invest NI’s Southern Offices in Craigavon and Newry, which act as a gateway to the full range of business support services offered by Invest NI, said:
“It is no secret that maintaining a healthy profit margin is essential to business success, allowing a company to grow, develop and invest in innovative research and development,” said Mark.
“By attending this event the companies were able to learn a few good techniques from an experienced accountancy house on how to get the most from their business. Feedback from the companies that attended was very positive.
“For Invest NI this type of event is an effective way to highlight how we work with local businesses to develop their skills and abilities,” he continued.
