Invest Northern Ireland 2012/2013 performance results for the north east show that almost 1,000 new jobs were promoted as a result of its support.
Gren Armstrong, Invest NI’s North Eastern Regional Manager, said: “This is a strong performance by Invest NI in the north east which last year made offers totalling almost £21million to local and external companies across the area.
“This contributed towards investment commitments of almost £82million by businesses including Wrightbus, Randox and Woodland Kitchens, which have the potential to create 983 new jobs. Notably investment in Ballymena has increased by nearly five times on last year with an 87 per cent increase on jobs promoted by local companies.
“Of these new jobs promoted, 425 were as a result of foreign direct investment (FDI), such as the recent announcement by Terumo in Larne, and 114 new jobs through business start support.
“Against a backdrop of continued challenges placed on businesses as a result of the ongoing economic downturn, these results have demonstrated a strong performance with tangible benefits for businesses and the economy. I hope these figures will be received with the positive response they deserve,” Gren added.
