Invest NI helps 150 year old agricultural machinery manufacturer save over £600,000

Invest Northern Ireland has helped Londonderry based, Fleming Agri Products to save over £610,000 through a programme of efficiency measures.

Fleming Agri Products Ltd is one of the oldest agricultural machinery companies in the UK and Ireland, producing over 140 different machines to cater for the requirements of modern farming and countryside care.

Assistance from Invest NI helped Fleming Agri Products to evaluate and implement necessary changes to key operational areas.

Most of the savings achieved by the company to date have been through making improvements to the design and production process, quality management, staff training and the transfer of communication throughout the organisation. Savings from other areas will roll out over time and increase the total achieved from the programme.

Niall Casey, Director of Business Improvement Services at Invest NI, commented: “Fleming Agri Products has already far exceeded the savings target set before commencing this programme of change, which is particularly commendable during these challenging economic conditions for the manufacturing sector. It now has the potential to realise long term growth having increased its capabilities and will benefit from having embedded a culture of continuous improvement in the company.”
