Invest NI Helps Cookstown Kitchen Company Expand

Jun 12, 2007

Cookstown manufacturer BA Components is investing almost £3 million in an Invest Northern Ireland backed expansion programme which aims to increase the firm’s turnover by over 60% in three years and secure jobs for up to 30 new employees.

The company manufactures high quality MDF wrapped doors and accessories for the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom sector. Invest NI’s package of assistance focuses on developing ways to improve marketing, customer care, human resources and quality control which will ultimately impact positively on turnover.

Brian McCracken, Managing Director of BA Components, hopes this ambitious expansion will help the company build on an already strong position in the Republic of Ireland and UK markets: “We are never a company to ‘rest on our laurels’ and are proud of our reputation for leading rather than following the market. We’ve seen phenomenal growth, with our turnover showing double digit percentage growth in each of the last five years. With Invest NI’s assistance we have recruited a team of experienced and highly motivated managers with the aim of sustaining and building on that growth by further expanding our premises and product range.”

“BA Components now has a clear strategy and achievable expansion programme in place for the next three to five years, allowing both myself and Production Director Kieran McCracken to concentrate on the strategic direction of the company, confident in our senior management’s ability to handle day-to-day operations.”

Kevin McCann, Invest NI’s Director of Transport, Construction and Tourism, said: “BA Components has achieved a step change in its management team which has made possible an even more proactive approach to its entire operation. The company has embraced innovation in all aspects of the business and is an excellent example of how a local business can succeed in international markets. It is through the continued growth of companies like BA Components, in export markets, that Mid Ulster and indeed Northern Ireland will enjoy a vibrant and successful economy.”
