Hundreds of people recently attended ‘Go for it – the enterprise show’ at the Seven Towers Leisure centre in Ballymena, organised by Invest Northern Ireland and its enterprise partners.

Open to all and with free admission the show was designed to give business advice and guidance to potential entrepreneurs and those already involved in entrepreneurial activity.

During the two day event local celebrity chef Jenny Bristow delivered a presentation on her experiences of setting up a highly successful business and renowned motivational speaker Harry Harpur, discussed the essential qualities needed to start and succeed in business.

Deborah Boyd, Invest NI board member, shared her wide-ranging knowledge of Northern Ireland enterprise at the event. With strong business credentials, including membership of the CBI Regional Council and the IBEC/CBI Joint Council, Deborah was well placed to give an insight into the challenges and rewards of business life.

Commenting on the show, Graham Davis, Director of Entrepreneurship at Invest NI said:

“Events like this are vitally important in helping to stimulate the growth of small businesses which form the backbone of the regional economy. Only by encouraging more people to take a risk and start a business will we be able to strengthen Northern Ireland’s economic position, to the benefit of everyone.”

Specialist Invest NI advisors were on hand to answer questions and give advice to all participants on a wide range of business issues including business planning, marketing, taxation and IT.
