Invest Northern Ireland today launched a Strategic Approach to Accelerating Youth Entrepreneurship at a special ‘Celebration of Entrepreneurship’ event at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast.
Outlining Invest NI’s Strategic Approach to encouraging increased entrepreneurial activity amongst young people across Northern Ireland Professor Terri Scott, Managing Director of Clients and Entrepreneurship commented:
“One of our key target groups is youth and we are committed to supporting and developing programmes to encourage more young people to consider opportunities in entrepreneurial businesses. A great start has been made and strong partnerships built with many stakeholders including Enterprise Northern Ireland, Young Enterprise, Prince’s Trust and Shell LiveWire who have all come together with Invest NI to provide a seamless and co-ordinated system of support for young entrepreneurs.”
The Strategic Approach to Youth Entrepreneurship forms part of Invest NI’s Accelerating Entrepreneurship Strategy (AES) launched in June of last year. The Strategy was developed to help Invest NI meet its corporate priorities and address directly the objectives of the Programme for Government and the Economic Development Forum.
Speaking at the event Invest NI Board member Stephen Kingon commented:
“Higher levels of entrepreneurship are essential if we are to achieve a vibrant and balanced economy. The Accelerating Entrepreneurship Strategy stems from these plans and seeks to highlight Northern Ireland as an exemplar location for starting and growing a business. The young entrepreneurs who have taken part in this event today clearly show just what can be achieved.”
Part of National Enterprise Week, 15-21st November the ‘Celebration of Entrepreneurship’ event was designed to inspire young people to take up the business challenge and become successful entrepreneurs. Over 1,000 events will take place across the UK throughout the week to help catalyse debate about the importance of enterprise for everyone.
