Invest Northern Ireland has announced the appointment of Enterprise Northern Ireland to deliver its highly successful Start a Business Programme. The flagship programme will be delivered across Northern Ireland through the network of 32 enterprise agencies.
Since its inception in September 2001 the Start a Business Programme has assisted 9,100 entrepreneurs to start a business, creating over 15,000 new jobs.
Professor Terri Scott, Invest NI’s managing director of Clients and Entrepreneurship said: “Entrepreneurship is the bedrock to a vibrant and balanced economy. The Start a Business programme is a key contributor to the drive to create a more entrepreneurial society and provides an important gateway to enabling entrepreneurs to develop the skills which can potentially lead to export capability.”
Ann McGregor, Chief Executive of Enterprise Northern Ireland said: “We are delighted to have been reselected by Invest NI to deliver this highly successful programme on its behalf throughout Northern Ireland. It demonstrates that Enterprise Northern Ireland members, with their accredited staff, and 40 points of presence have the resources and ability to deliver a quality service to entrepreneurs in their local communities.”
The Programme offers four key elements:
•A business advisory service
•An into-business course with modules focusing on sales and marketing, financial management, legal and statutory issues, and general business practice
•Financial planning service and sources of funding
•Support to develop a corporate logo and website
