As part of ‘Go for it’ week Invest Northern Ireland recently organised a breakfast seminar to highlight the importance of innovative research and development to small and medium sized businesses.
Attended by over 20 companies the event, which took place in the Antrim Enterprise Agency, also focused on the importance of exporting to help companies remain competitive and profitable in today’s tough business environment.
Speaking at the event local businessman Trevor Erskine shared his experiences of working with world-renowned coach builder the Wright Group.
Trevor has helped to develop innovative world class design and engineering concepts for the Ballymena based firm and was instrumental in helping it grow from just 60 employees in the mid-70’s to around 1,000 employees today.
Commenting on the success of the event, George McKinney, Regional Manager of Invest NI’s North Eastern Local Office, said:
“Events like these are designed to encourage more local businesses to engage in innovative research and development as a way of enhancing their business. Only by focussing on these types of activities will companies here be able to fulfil their export potential and compete more effectively.”
The week will culminate in ‘Go for it’ - the enterprise show at the Seven Towers Leisure Centre, Ballymena on Friday 7 April from 3pm to 9pm and Saturday 8 April from 10am to 5pm.
Open to all and free of charge the show has been specifically designed to give advice and support to potential entrepreneurs planning a new business or developing an existing one.
The show will cover a wide range of business issues such as business planning, finance, marketing, health & safety and IT.
