Jargon Busting Guide Promises Help For Business Owners

Oct 14, 2004

Invest Northern Ireland has launched a guide to take the stress out of dealing with the rules and regulations governing setting up and running a business.

The No-Nonsense Guide aims to save business owners time and money, and lessen stress, by presenting straightforward guidelines about the legal and official side of running a business.

The guide covers a wide range of topics from getting premises to employing people and has been put together by Invest NI with input from a range of government departments and agencies.

Launching the guide Fabian Monds, Chairman of Invest NI said: “There is a mountain of regulations that business owners need to be aware of and comply with. For anyone thinking of setting up a business these can be quite daunting.

“This guide explains in simple terms what a business really needs to know about tax, health and safety, data protection and trading laws, and importantly signposts where further help and advice is available. It’s a great asset to anyone thinking of setting up a business.”

Colour coded for ease of use, the guide also includes case studies showing how other small businesses have tackled government rules and regulations.

Fabian Monds adds: “The guide will be an important source of information not just for entrepreneurs but also for organisations and individuals who support and advise them.”

The guide was launched in Londonderry during the Go For It week held to stimulate interest in the northwest about setting up or growing a business.
