Label One, a specialist label and booklet label manufacturer in Belfast, has been assisted by Invest Northern Ireland to win new business from the Almac Group, which will see its products exported worldwide.
The company, which employs 48 people in Belfast, received Invest NI support to develop bespoke and sophisticated technology that enabled it to win a global tender from Almac’s Clinical Services’ Business Unit. The contract will see Label One providing booklet labels and leaflets for Almac’s clinical trial products for its sites in Craigavon, the US and Asia.
Michael McGarry, Label One Managing Director, said: “This very significant new business for us came from a decision by Almac to reduce its existing global supply base of booklet label suppliers down to just four. Almac has always been a very important customer, and we were keen to develop the business. It was a contract we had to win and we did our utmost to ensure that we met, indeed surpassed, Almac’s requirements in what is understandably a very exacting and technically challenging industry.
“The booklet labels we provide, for instance, are used as an essential component of the clinical trial and offer guidance to clinicians and patients alike. The construction can involve up to 64 pages in as many of 40 different languages.
“With Invest NI support, we invested around £2 million in state-of-the-art and often bespoke equipment over the past few years so that Label One would be positioned to pitch for more business from Almac and indeed other manufacturers in the Pharmaceutical, Animal Health, and Agrochemical markets.
“Being included in the new supplier list is a huge boost for us and for our drive to secure further contracts from such quality conscious clients,” he added.
John Hood, Invest NI Director of Food and Packaging said: “This is a very important endorsement of the expertise of Label One and of its ongoing commitment to invest in the latest printing equipment and related services. We have worked closely with this ambitious local company to support initiatives designed to ensure its competitiveness in what is a very demanding business sector.”
Robert Dunlop commented on the deal: “Our decision to continue and expand our relationship with Label One in our streamlined supplier list was influenced by the product quality and delivery of service the company has provided to us over the past seven years. This was supported by the strength of its commitment to retain our business as demonstrated by its ongoing investment in cutting-edge plant and expert services. We’ve found Label One a quality-focused and highly responsive supplier.”
Formed by Mr McGarry in 2001, Label One is now among the leading booklet label manufacturers in Europe.
