Lisburn-based APT Innovations is exporting its innovative water drainage system across the UK, Europe and Scandinavia following a range of support from Invest Northern Ireland.
The company’s product, Floë, was designed to remove water and any impurities from the water pipes in touring and static caravans, motor-homes and domestic houses. Research at the University of Ulster, undertaken using an Invest NI innovation voucher, proved the product was 99.95 per cent effective. The business has also worked with Invest NI on the patent, branding, design and marketing of the Floë system, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
APT Innovations recently discovered Floë could also cleanse the internal components of domestic boilers, therefore extending the component life and reducing the consumer’s fuel bill by up to 20 per cent.
Commenting on his experiences, Jason Paul, owner of APT Innovations, said: “It is because of Invest NI that we have a successful business. The agency provided the resources and expertise we needed to develop our product and market it to new export customers. As a result, we are now selling the Floë system in 12 countries and are making inroads to selling it throughout the US and Canada.”
Olive Hill, Director of Innovation and Technical Solutions, said: “APT Innovation is an entrepreneurial, driven young business which has used a wide spectrum of Invest NI support to develop a product which removes stale water, prevents winter damage and reduces fuel spend.
“The company is now using R&D support to develop a permanent device that can be built into motor-homes, touring and static caravans which represents a tremendous growth opportunity for APT.”
Further Innovation Voucher applications will be invited in February 2014. Interested companies can find more information and details of how to apply at www.innovationvouchers.com.
