Local companies hoping to fly high in Germany

Supported by Invest Northern Ireland, key players in the local aerospace sector will participate in AIRTEC, a major aerospace trade show in Frankfurt on 23-26 October.

Eight local firms and representatives from the Northern Ireland Technology Centre at Queen’s University Belfast will be on Invest NI’s group stand at the show. During the show, local business people and academics will have meetings with key potential customers and industry influencers.

The event is being held in the Frankfurt Exhibition Centre and is the only trade show focussed entirely on the aerospace supply chain. Last year the show featured almost 500 exhibitors and attracted nearly 10,000 visitors from 37 countries.

Kevin McCann, Invest NI’s Director of Transport, Construction and Tourism, said: “The Northern Ireland aerospace sector has a globally recognised reputation for high quality innovation and state of the art technology and design which gives local firms a competitive edge. Invest NI, as part of its aerospace strategy, is working to raise the profile of Northern Ireland’s capability in the sector.

“By participating in AIRTEC on the Invest NI group stand, local firms and research bodies have a valuable opportunity to promote their products and services to a specialised and influential international audience. This, along with targeted meetings with key existing and potential customers, will further raise their world standing in the aerospace sector.

“Aerospace organisations add significant value to the local economy with the sector employing over 7,300 people in Northern Ireland, and generating an annual turnover of over £750 million. The fact that Northern Ireland is the only UK region to be represented as a group at AIRTEC is a further indicator of the reputation of local firms within the sector. Their presence will help them build on what is already a strong export performance.”
