Invest Northern Ireland launched its Strategic Excellence Service at the Hilton Hotel in Belfast today with the first in a series of masterclasses designed to demonstrate the importance of Strategic Development to the local economy.
More than 35 local companies arrived to take part in the first Strategic Excellence masterclass, ‘Real customer strategies for real businesses’. The event allowed local companies to learn from international business leaders whilst sharing experiences and obtaining advice on customer service skills in an informal setting.
Designed to help firms increase their profits and turnover as well as develop strategic planning expertise at senior management level, the Strategic Excellence Service assists participating companies in identifying and developing a unique competitive advantage.
“Traditionally in Northern Ireland, strategic development only comes to the fore when there is a crisis,” said Victor Jordan, Director of Business Improvement Services at Invest NI. “The Strategic Excellence Service offers a number of initiatives to raise awareness of the importance of ongoing strategy development and its positive commercial impact.”
Key speakers at today’s masterclass included David Bruce, creator of the Slug & Lettuce brand and the Capital Pub Company which has been acknowledged by the City to be the most successful ever Enterprise Investment Scheme; Bro McFerran, Managing Director of Northbrook Technology the largest IT employer in Northern Ireland and Bill Briggs, Managing Director of the Redditch based contracting and manufacturing business Radway Door & Windows Ltd.
In addition to the masterclasses, the Strategic Excellence Service offers one to one tailored consultancy opportunities and peer workshops which enable companies to network and gain strategic knowledge from organisations experiencing similar commercial challenges.
