Cookstown-based company FSL Electronics Ltd achieved over £750,000 of export sales in 2008, including a deal to supply products for the next Soccer World Cup in South Africa, with support from Invest Northern Ireland.
FSL Electronics designs, manufactures and distributes an array of technologically advanced products for a range of sports organisations and other sectors such as materials handling and security.
Its products include digital score boards, message panels, queuing displays, remote control equipment and an innovative electronic fitness mat.
Brian Dolaghan, Invest NI’s Director of Engineering and Business Services, said: “FSL Electronics has diversified extensively by developing its product portfolio through R&D and exploiting business opportunities in new geographical markets outside Northern Ireland. It has participated in recent Invest NI led international trade missions and exhibitions and has generated new high-value business as a result, contributing to its turnover growth last year.
“Local companies can reach their full capability and help strengthen the Northern Ireland economy by following the example of entrepreneurial firms such as FSL, consistently innovating and seeking to develop sales in new markets.”
John Meenan, Managing Director of FSL Electronics, said: “We have worked closely with Invest NI to take a more strategic approach to our business, develop new products, increase the quality of existing products and improve our profitability and competitiveness in external markets.
“Blackburn Rovers Football Club and the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) are among our customer base, and we recently sold a scoreboard for use in a cricket stadium in the Bahamas. We also supplied the scoreboard for Mbombela Stadium, one of the new sports arenas being built for the 2010 Soccer World Cup.
“Over the past 20 years we have built up a large network of distributors in countries throughout Europe and markets being successfully targeted more recently include North America, India, Australia and South Africa.”
FSL Electronics has been listed by Deloitte as one of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in Ireland.
