The project is being supported by Invest Northern Ireland and will create a Comfort branded hotel to include 6 meeting rooms, a banqueting suite suitable for weddings, a lounge, Grill bar, restaurant and Coffee lounge. It is anticipated that the investment will create at least 50 – 60 full and part time jobs.

The Comfort Hotel, Antrim will target the short break and corporate markets, as well as servicing the needs of the local market. The Northern Ireland Tourist Board has endorsed the proposal indicating that the project shows a good fit with the needs of visitors to Northern Ireland.

Leslie Ross, Managing Director of Business International in Invest NI, comments: “Invest NI is committed to helping tourism businesses grow, improve product quality, business processes and their capability to compete competitively in the national and global market place. This project will add to the stock of internationally branded hotels in Northern Ireland and will provide economic benefit by attracting visitors from outside the region.

“The McKeevers are a highly experienced management team with a strong track record and they have a clear vision for the positioning of the hotel in the local and national market places.”

Work has started on the new hotel is scheduled to be completed in May 2005.
