The second major phase of Invest Northern Ireland’s events designed to help businesses manage their operations successfully through the Credit Crunch continues in Londonderry on 9 September.

At the ‘Securing Extra Sales’ seminar, companies will receive practical help and guidance to improve their sales and manage the effects of the economic downturn.

Invest NI’s Managing Director of Innovation and Capability Development, Tracy Meharg, said: “The forthcoming seminar in Derry will focus on ways to help companies develop a strong sales strategy, improve sales skills and form strategic alliances to exploit commercial opportunities as they arise. Experts will provide advice on specific areas such as the sales process, market identification and access, international sales, as well as sales pitching and evaluation.

“The sales tools to be discussed and practiced in the workshops at the event can be quickly applied by businesses, so they can begin to enhance their profitability without delay.”

“The spectrum of Invest NI support that is available to help local businesses will also be outlined, including our £15 million Short Term Aid Scheme and £5 million Accelerated Support Fund.”

Ms Meharg continued: “Well over 1,000 representatives of local companies in a range of sectors have benefited from valuable assistance to date at Invest NI events, specifically designed to help businesses through the economic slowdown. The ‘Securing Extra Sales’ seminars have been developed in response to feedback from businesses at these events.

“Many of these businesses have subsequently been offered financial support to reduce costs, boost sales, and retain and develop key skilled staff while they restructure and plan for the future. Other Invest NI support programmes have helped companies to progress key initiatives relating to staff training, exporting and new product development as they prepare for the upturn.

“The seminar at the Everglades Hotel in Londonderry will begin at 8.00am and run until 1.30pm, and lunch will be provided. Companies and register online at,” added Ms Meharg.
