Tyrone Company Wins First Export Business From US

Dungannon based Integrated Marketing Management (IMM) has won its first business in the United States with help from Invest Northern Ireland.

IMM, a specialist in third party sales and market development support that provides customers with a sharp approach to revenue driven results, is to assist Rhode Island Corporation to assess business potential within the UK and Irish markets.

Formed in 2001 by Dungannon businesswoman Monica McGeary, IMM has received assistance from Invest NI’s Western Local Office (WLO) in Omagh under the Export Start programme that helps new businesses develop sales in markets outside Northern Ireland.

IMM was helped to pinpoint the business opportunity in the US by Axios International, Invest NI’s In-Market business consultancy based in Cleveland, Ohio, following a WLO referral.

Mrs McGeary says: “The support and general advice about doing business in the US that we received from Axios under the In-Market Support Scheme was extremely important.

“Having Axios to undertake the initial groundwork required in the US for market development enabled us to maintain our focus on developing our existing markets in Northern Ireland, Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland.  Around a third of our business currently comes from clients in the Republic.

“Since using Invest NI’s In-Market Support for the US, we’ve been able to move forward on four identified opportunities of which one is now a customer.

“Our business has benefited immensely from advice and assistance provided by other Invest NI programmes such as the NorthStar mentoring scheme, the Company Development Programme and the Profit Improvement Programme,” she adds.

Alan Hingston, Invest NI’s Trade director, says: “IMM’s success in the US shows how our In Market Support Service can assist smaller companies in particular by enabling them to access expert advice and guidance on-the-ground in an individual marketplace.

“It’s also an excellent example of Invest NI’s integrated team approach being delivered seamlessly through the local office network to achieve our corporate objective of encouraging more companies to become international competitors,” he adds.

IMM currently employs seven people and is based at the Oaks IT Suite in Dungannon Enterprise Agency.
