Tyrone Crystal set for a sparkling future

Mar 14, 2007

Invest Northern Ireland today announced its support for a £1 million investment by Dungannon-based Tyrone Crystal Giftware Ltd.

The investment follows the acquisition of the assets of the former Tyrone Crystal Ltd in February 2006, by a consortium of investors led by local businessmen, Peter Maginnis and Nigel Blackburn.

Tyrone Crystal Giftware designs, manufactures and supplies contemporary and traditional glassware under the well-known Tyrone Crystal brand. The project will see the company increasingly focus its efforts on new, cutting edge product design as well as developing and implementing a targeted sales and marketing strategy to help the company grow in new and existing export markets.

Commenting on the investment, Donal Durkan, Invest NI Director of Life Sciences and Creative said: “Invest NI is fully supportive of the new company and its plans for future development.

“By utilising the respected Tyrone Crystal brand, this project will enable the company to increase its share of the competitive global giftware market by focusing on design, marketing and process improvement. This will ensure that Tyrone Crystal Giftware is in a more flexible and responsive position to deal with changing trends and take advantage of new export opportunities.”

Nigel Blackburn of Tyrone Crystal Giftware added: “Since the acquisition in 2006, we have worked to improve fundamental process, management and marketing activities which will support this new investment project.

“Our aim now is to fully implement a growth strategy that will enable us to significantly increase turnover and secure additional sales in new and existing markets.

“I am confident that the combination of a well established brand, innovative new product designs, and a stronger focus on export sales and marketing will help Tyrone to grow through the exploitation of export markets.”
