Feb 27, 2006

Webtech N.I.Ltd has invested over £3.75 million in state-of-the-art technology with support from Invest Northern Ireland, to secure the long-term future of its Enniskillen plant.

Leslie Morrison, Invest NI Chief Executive and Michael Jamison, Webtech Managing Director, today unveiled the new state-of-the-art print capabilities at the Killyhevlin Industrial Estate plant.

Commenting on the development project, Leslie Morrison said:

“The flexible packaging market is characterised by low margins and intense competition so there is a constant drive for greater efficiencies.  Webtech has recognised that investing in innovation is essential to improving its capabilities and to competing successfully in overseas markets.”

The project, which will create 11 new jobs and safeguard the existing workforce, is an expansion plan involving the acquisition of new equipment and machinery, including a new Windmoller and Holscher printing press, label conversion equipment and extruder improvements.  The investment will help the company improve its efficiencies, extend its product range and attract new customers throughout Great Britain and mainland Europe.

Over the years Webtech has proven its commitment to quality, having attained the ISO9002 and British Retail Consortium quality standards. It has also put in place an in-house Quality Assurance Team to ensure consistency and continual improvement.

Michael Jamison said:

”Webtech’s philosophy is to provide customers with unparalleled products and services and continually exceed client expectations.  To meet the changing needs of the market place, it was important for us to update the plant, improve our processes and extend our product range.

“With Invest NI’s help, we are now in a position to win substantial contracts in the flexible packaging sector across Europe and can offer more tailored solutions to our existing client base.”

The investment also financed the installation of Management Information Systems software and the recruitment of key personnel who are an integral part of the company’s expansion plans.
