Small Business Research Institute (SBRI)
SBRI provides new business opportunities for SME's. There have been over 2,600 contracts worth £360 million in the past eight years.
SBRI competitions provide funding to companies to develop new innovative solutions/products to address a challenge or need in the public sector. These are identified by a public body (e.g. government department). The resulting competitions can be funded either by the public body or on occasion by Innovate UK, which also promotes all SBRI competitions.
The 100% funding is provided through a competitive process.
If your application is successful you retain the Intellectual Property (IP) of any product or service developed.
There are competitions in most sectors throughout the year and you can view the current ones.
SBRI gives you a route to market for your ideas and can bridge the funding gap experienced by many early stage companies. It supports economic growth and enables the development of innovative products and services through the public procurement of research and development (R&D).
