About our communications toolkit

This Communications Toolkit provides our partners, stakeholders and suppliers access our brand guidelines and assets. 

It also gives advice on how to secure the necessary approvals from our Communications Group.  

What are the benefits of using the communications toolkit?

By following our Brand Guidelines and supporting documents, you can easily bring our house style, look and feel to publications, assets and content you are developing either working in partnership or on our behalf. 

Suppliers and contractors must fully adhere to this Communications Toolkit and failure to follow the guidance provided in this toolkit may result in Invest NI withdrawing funding or support.

Who is the communications toolkit for?

This Communications Toolkit is for our partners, stakeholders and suppliers to use.  

External organisations can use this toolkit to recognise our role in, and support for their projects. 

External organisations working with NI Connections or Innovate NI must also review their marketing advice.  

Using the communications toolkit

Before using the Invest NI or any of our brands (nibusinessinfo.co.uk, Northern Irish Connections, Innovate NI or BuyFoodNI), or referencing Invest NI in your communications as a partner or funder, you must seek prior approval by emailing your request to communications@investni.com 

Your assets and content must be approved by the Communications Group prior to publishing.  

Please send draft content (including digital assets) using the brand(s) referenced above to communications@investni.com for approval at least five working days before your publication date. 

Brand and visual identity

As part of our commitment to maintaining a consistent and impactful presence, our brand and visual identity serve as the foundation for how we communicate who we are. 

Brand guidelines

Our Brand guidelines provide a comprehensive guidance on creating materials in line with the Invest NI brand.  They look at how our logo can and can’t be used, tone of voice, colour palettes, typography and photography.

The Invest NI Logo is available in: 

  1. Colour 
  1. Black on white 
  1. White on a transparent background 

You can download the Invest NI logo in both Jpeg and EPS format.  EPS files can only be opened if you have design software and are used for high resolution printing.  If you are asked to share a copy of the Invest NI logo it is advisable to share both the Jpeg and EPS file.

Partner logos

External organisations must acknowledge our support by including our logo on all publications, press releases, digital assets (video and static) and advertisements.  

Invest NI may be a funder, supporter, sponsor or partner of a project, so we have brand hierarchy to give advice on how to use our logo depending on our role in the project. 

This includes:

  • In partnership with Invest NI logos 
  • Provided by Invest NI logos 
  • Sponsored by Invest NI logos

Asset specifications

If you have approval, you may use the Invest NI logo on print or digital assets. Examples of print and digital assets include: 

  • Brochures 
  • Advertising materials  
  • Websites  
  • Press releases 
  • Exhibition materials 
  • Signage 
  • Information packs 
  • Training materials  
  • Event invitations 
  • Digital media 

If producing print assets, the Invest NI logo must occupy a space visually equal to that of the other logos being used in the print material. It must also appear on the front cover of all print and digital assets  

We have produced a handy digital spec sheet which outlines all the sizes and text requirements for our digital communication channels. 

The Invest NI logo must be clearly readable on both print and digital assets, with no pixilation.

Social media

Social media is a vital part of our communications toolkit, enabling us to amplify the reach and impact of Invest NI’s programmes and campaigns. Our Social Media Guidelines ensure that all content shared across platforms is consistent, compliant, and aligned with our brand values. Social media guidelines

All social media posts associated with Invest NI programmes or project must: 

  • Reference Invest NI as the funder or programme owner.
  • Tag the relevant Invest NI account on the channel.
  • Include Invest NI approved hashtags, if appropriate.

Video production

Video production is a powerful storytelling tool within our communications toolkit, helping to bring Invest NI’s mission to life through dynamic, business-focused content. 

Video guidelines

If you are creating videos on behalf of Invest NI the general rules for colours, typography and voice from our brand guidelines apply. The emphasis of our videos should be on people, places and products. The scenes should feel modern, dynamic and authentic.
