Running a business requires a range of skills. Our workshops are an excellent way to develop or refine those skills.

Owners and managers of small businesses wear many hats. Today you’re hiring staff, tomorrow you’re reviewing finances and developing a growth strategy for the business.

Even the most competent business person won’t have all the skills needed to manage all aspects of a business.

Our skills workshops can help. We run regular workshops on Recruitment and Selection, Effective Financial Management and Delivering Faster Growth.

You can attend any of the three workshops singly, but attending all three will give maximum benefit.

Recruitment and selection

Our Recruitment and Selection workshops are free half-day events that cover the whole recruitment process from preparing a job description and person specification to interviewing, using tests and finalising the process.

For more information on people management and for sample employment contracts and job descriptions, you can also download the Invest NI Employers’ Handbook.

Financial management

There are three different workshops under this theme:

  • Manage your cash flow.
  • Maximising profitability.
  • Understanding financial statements. Keep an eye on our events list to see when the next workshop will be.

Listen to what workshop participants have said.

Business growth

Our growth workshops provide you with the practical tools and guidance you need to grow your business faster. There are three workshops:

  • Create an action plan
This workshop will help you identify what’s holding your business back. Then, by helping you set a clear direction for your business we can show you how to overcome the obstacles and grow faster.
  • Develop ideas for growth
Standing still is no longer an option. You need to introduce new products or service ideas to build a momentum for growth in your business. We will show you how to simply identify the best ideas and get them to the market place quickly.
  • Make it happen
Once you have set the direction for your business and developed your growth plan it needs to become part of the daily life of your business. This workshop will show you practical methods to bring your plan to life in the business.
