Northern Ireland has experienced an influx of new investors in recent years, particularly in the technology, financial services and legal sectors, joining companies that have enjoyed long-term success in the region.
The region is the world’s top destination city for fintech development investments with companies such as Chicago Mercantile Exchange, Visa and Tullett Prebon choosing to invest in Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland is also the leading destination globally for US FDI cyber security development projects with US investors including Rapid7, WhiteHat Security, Black Duck Software, Anomali and Proofpoint all having operations here.
Other international investors include Baker McKenzie, Allen & Overy LLP, Seagate Technology, Bombardier Aerospace, Citi and the Allstate Corporation. From an initial investment many of these companies have been so impressed with their success in Northern Ireland that they have reinvested again. This continued success has led to almost 900 international companies locating in the region and employing around 100,000 people.
A testament to the success of these investments and what Northern Ireland has to offer is that almost 80 per cent of new inward investors have already reinvested in Northern Ireland.
